Linearity Series - Riven
This sculptural vessel began as storm-felled ash from Gimli. The subtle grooves left by the emerald ash borer are still visible beneath the finish, an eerie map of decay just under the surface. I carved into that narrative with strong, repeating lines, not to erase the past, but to respond to it.
The underside is wrapped in a pattern of chisel-cut ridges, like the striated wing casings of an insect or the ribs of a seedpod. It’s smooth where it needs to be, raw where it remembers. A balance between intention and interruption.
