Sculptural Vessel - Rippled Canoe
This 14-inch sculptural vessel was carved from Siberian elm salvaged from a discarded log waiting on the curb in South St. Vital. What was nearly trash is now treasure.
The form curves gently upward at each end like a canoe, or a cradle. Its underside is hand-textured, evoking something both ancient and handmade. The grain glows in two tones: pale sapwood meeting dark heartwood, like time and story layered in wood.
It’s not symmetrical. The edge drifts. And that’s what gives it life.
This is a piece meant to be seen. To be touched.
A conversation starter. A focal point.
