Sculptural Vessel - Silver Turtle
This 14-inch vessel was carved from silver maple, salvaged from a roadside in St. Vital. The tree had already been cut and left for haul-away … another story nearly lost. But the wood was still strong, and full of light.
The bowl’s outer surface is carved with a faceted, textured pattern evoking the form of a turtle shell. It's a recurring theme in my work, a quiet homage to Turtle Island and the idea of the land as shelter, story, and sacred ground.
The shape is lifted at both ends, soft and strong, like something meant to carry or contain. A vessel not just for objects, but for presence.
