Teardrop Series - Cracked Oak
This Oak once stood proud in a backyard in Charleswood. After storm damage brought it down, it was destined for firewood. I rescued this piece, and a few others, from the pile. What was nearly lost can now live on.
I carved this teardrop form by feel, letting the grain guide my hands. Brass fills the natural cracks, leaving a shimmering trace of what the tree endured. That quiet dialogue between wood and metal speaks to the duality of life… strength and softness, damage and grace.
Beauty not in spite of imperfection, but because of it.
10 Inches. Oak and brass.
