Sunscar
Sunscar is born from a branch once broken… weathered, darkened, and split beneath years of prairie sun. Where the bark had blistered and the wood discolored, I carved carefully, leaving the memory of damage intact. Brass now runs through the fracture like a lifeline, honoring the Japanese practice of kintsugi: repairing with precious metals, not to hide flaws but to celebrate them.
The result is a vase that holds contrast: soft curves and sharp seams, burnished gold against bruised grain. It’s a gesture of reverence toward imperfection, and a reminder that beauty deepens when weathered by time.
