Wabi-Sabi Series – Prairie Aurora #1
This vase was carved from a Manitoba maple that once stood in the Tuxedo neighbourhood. It was taken down to make room for new construction… a life uprooted not by rot or storm, but by the quiet certainty that progress will claim its space, no matter the cost.
Now, the wood lives on in this small, imperfect form. The grain glows with unexpected colour … warm reds and soft golds drifting through pale maple like the northern lights over a prairie horizon. A knot near the rim pulses like a quiet sun, haloed in motion.
The rim tilts. The lines waver.
Nothing here is perfect … and that’s the point.
