Wabi-Sabi Series – Shoreline Ash #1
This vase was carved from ash that once grew along the shores of Lake Winnipeg, just outside Gimli. Weathered by lake winds and prairie storms, the tree carried the rhythm of the shoreline in its grain … now captured in this small, imperfect form.
The shape leans gently, with a rim that dips like the edge of a wave. The grain curves like watermarks in sand, each line echoing a season, a shift, a storm. It’s calm and fluid, but marked by movement … a still object that remembers how to flow.
It’s a piece about shoreline memory.
About what remains when the wind and tide has done its work.
