Sculptural Vessel - Abundance
This sculptural piece was carved from ash rescued from my neighbour’s yard in River Park South. Firewood given new purpose. The form hints at a canoe, a cradle, a vessel meant for carrying more than just weight.
I left the live edge raw, bark intact … a reminder of the tree, more than just wood. Along the bottom, the form is opened and laced with deerskin leather, strung tight like sinew or stitching.
Part bowl, part sculpture, part story. A gift from the abundance of the prairies.
Ash - 12 Inches
