Sculptural Vessel - Stillweight
This piece was carved from silver maple moments from the landfill … saved from the jaws of a garbage truck in St. Vital.
Bold and architectural in form, it moves between angles and curves, shadow and surface. The profile feels sculptural, almost monolithic … but softened by hand and grain. Each plane invites touch, each ridge catches light.
Though its edges are assertive, the wood speaks gently … pale tones, subtle arcs, and quiet figure flowing inward like folded linen or weathered stone.
A centrepiece meant to be seen, held, discussed.
Wabi-sabi, with heft.
